This is why you just keep going until the whistle blows.
One of my little guys (age group 2010), Ashton Filina, who is a very competitive little boy, wanted to place in the top 3 at his schools running event.
As soon as they took off from the starting line, someone stepped on Ashton's heel of his shoe, his shoe came right off, but Ashton did not miss a beat, he ran the entire 1/2 mile with a shoe on one foot and a sock on the other. At the end, he has a hole in his sock, but also has a 3rd place medal to hang on the wall along with it.
Way to go Ashton, We are all very proud of you.
